"Skaperglede" is a cherished principle in Sunnmøre. For generations, we have adhered to Ivar Aasen's directive: "Let us clear ground, and build ourselves hamlets, and then we will own the clearing for sure.” The essence of being a "Sunnmøring" has played a significant role in shaping my growth, both on and off the field. Presently, we are placing our bets on Sunnmøre with initiatives like a soccer school, track-and-field school, a conference, and a Christmas concert. The inspiration to invest further in the region is palpable.

Free Track-and-Field School in Gursken

Rural Politics = Job Creation x Wellbeing x Community Activity

As a native of Sunnmøre, I spend considerable time in my hometown. I find myself increasingly awed by the creativity exhibited across various domains in the region. Naturally, this admiration influences my actions. Recently, I organized a track-and-field school in my hometown, Gursken.

My goal is to make these events free for children, combating the escalating costs of sports. Seeking partnerships with local businesses that align with our outlined formula, the latest event received support from Thon Hotels, Larsnes Mek. and the local sports team, Gursken. Together, we're building a community where job creation, well-being, and activity benefit everyone.

The conference's objective is to serve as a nexus for politics and business, both at the local and national levels. Rooted in the Sunnmøre tradition of job creation and the delicate balance between fostering and sharing within the local community, the event aims to foster collaboration and innovation.

In the inaugural segment, we delved into the concept of “The Joy of Creating” with insightful discussions led by Kjersti Kleven, Njal Saevik, and Tore Ulstein, all of whom have deep roots in the entrepreneurial history of Sunnmøre.

A pivotal component of the conference is Sparebanken Møre's "Næringsteft" project. “Næringsteft” offers a comprehensive course, providing participants with professional expertise and a valuable network to transform their ideas into profitable business ventures. Those engaged in the competition stand a chance to win up to NOK 1 million. This year, Edd Bjørke, Jacob Furnes Haram, and Birgitte Lovise Urke showcased their projects, exemplifying the commitment of young entrepreneurs to preserving and advancing the Sunnmøre entrepreneurial legacy—an objective championed by the Gursken Conference.

Our conversations extended to a dialogue with Sylvi Listhaug, leader of Fremskrittspartiet/Progress Party, and Linda Hofstad Helleland,  Conservative Party/Høyre's business policy spokesperson. Together with Camilla Vik from the Arbiderpartiet/Labor Party, we engaged in a debate that touched upon various topics, notably public/private collaboration.

This year's #FjøraPris was awarded to Per Sævik, a figure who has been a lifelong source of inspiration for our region.

We extend our gratitude to Mayor Anders Riise and Mayor of Sande Municipality Dag Vaagen for their valuable contributions. The conference was further enriched by the musical talents of Laila Fjørtoft Sandanger and Bjørn Holum, adding a delightful touch to the event.
